The short version
Everything you enter on this site is stored in your own browser unless you create an account. If you create an account, the same data is stored on our server so it can sync between your devices, and your wheel scores are counted, anonymously, in the "you're not alone" numbers. You can export or delete all of it at any time.
Without an account
Your wheels, answers, nails, plan, and reflections are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears it, so use the export button on the Account & Data tab if you want a backup.
With an account
- We store your email address, a scrambled (scrypt-hashed) version of your passphrase, and the document that holds your wheels, answers, nails, plan, and reflections.
- We keep a session cookie (
wheel_session) so you stay signed in for up to 90 days. It is the only cookie this site sets. There is no advertising, analytics, or tracking of any kind. - Your saved wheel scores and daily ratings feed anonymous aggregate statistics: averages per spoke, how many wheels resemble each common shape, and how many people have a given spoke at 4 or below. The aggregate never includes email addresses, notes, or text answers, and it never shows a number that could identify one person; it only appears once at least five people have synced.
- We never sell, share, or send your data to anyone. The server is a single machine we run ourselves.
Deleting your data
On the Account & Data tab, "Delete account and server data" removes your account, your document, and every row indexed from it, immediately. "Delete everything on this device" clears the local copy. Nightly database backups are kept for 30 days and then overwritten.
What this site is not
The Wheel is an educational framework, not a diagnosis, treatment, or crisis service, and using this site does not create a clinician–patient relationship.
